Home of Metal: The celebrations have begun!

I’m sure if you live around the Black Country and Birmingham you have seen this sign allllll over the place! And if you have not where have you been?! This is the infamous sign of the Home of Metal season, organised, produced and curated by Capsule  which is taking over the Black Country and Birmingham, bringing metal back home! The Home of Metal season boasts a huge programme so there’s plenty to get involved with and see all over the region in various venues!

Here’s an overview of what is on the schedule for the next few months:

Birmingham museum and Art Gallery are hosting the exhibition ‘Home of Metal’  which is a collection of fan memorabilia and various iconic items from Black Sabbath, Napalm Death and Judas Priest.

Wolverhampton Art Gallery presents ‘You Should Be Living’  presents work from Matius Faldbakken, Ben Venom, Harminder Judge and Amy Sarkisian and Damien Deroubaix.  A sound installation by Napalm Death founder, Nic Bullen will be on display. Supported by a Chris Coekin, a range of photos and sounds exploring the Metal Industry in the Black Country.

 Mark Titchner’s ‘Be True to Your Oblivion’  at The New Art Gallery which links to ‘Hell Bent for Leather’ hosted at Walsall Leather museum. ‘Metal’ celebrating the link between the industry to the Genre at Dudley museum and Art Gallery. Wednesbury museum and Art Gallery brings to you ‘Metal Fatigue: Heavy Metal and Hard Times’ a different take on metal.

There will also be various events happening at The Public and Light House.
