Pete James, Head of Photographs at Birmingham Library in conversation with photographic artists at Light House

June 7, 2011

Come join Light House Media Centre  for a talk about the latest exhibition in their  main gallery.

Pete James (Head of Photographs at Birmingham Library) will be talking to Dean Kelland and Andrew Jackson about their exhibition, The Streets.

The talk will take place here at Light House on Thursday 16th June at 6.30 pm. The exhibition will conclude on Friday 17th June. Admission is free.

Birmingham library has loaned works to this brand new exhibition. The Street encourages us to question what we find in the archives, by taking archive photographs, interviews and film to explore historical and contemporary debates on immigration in Britain, using racial tensions of 1960s Smethwick as a starting point. With this in mind the artists invite the audience to investigate the combination of current and archive information that they have presented.

If this exhibition gets your photography juices flowing, experienced or not, Light House are running a one day ‘Photographing People’ workshop The workshop will run on Friday 17th June, 10am – 4pm. Cost: £40 +VAT.
