Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein: New Screenings announced at Light House

April 18, 2011

Due to the success of the live streaming of Frankenstein straight from the National Theatre, Light House are giving the public a chance to catch the show again with 2 encore screenings.

Director Danny Boyle  (127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting) recreates this ‘Gothic Masterpiece’ with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller who will be alternating the leading roles. There will be a chance to catch the reverse cast as well as the original encore screening.

“The Frankenstein story has become so familiar that it might seem an impossible task to make the old story seem fresh. Yet somehow Boyle does just that, constantly creating shocks.” Charles Spencer, The Telegraph.

Frankenstein ultimately has to deal with the repercussions of playing God as he brings back to life a dead body, resulting in a child like, yet grotesque creature who is cast out by Frankenstein and rejected by the world he has been forced upon. Full of vengeance and longing for acceptance, the creature tracks down his creator to make him an offer he may not be able to refuse…
