Wolverhampton Young People Need Your Vote!

April 12, 2011

Local group Central Youth Theatre are appealing for votes in the co-operative revolution. The group have been nominated in the “Inspiring young people” category and, if they get enough votes, stand to win £5000. The group are currently working on their Everybody Dance Now project, a celebration of the history of social dancing in Wolverhampton, and are hoping to win the money to create employment and training opportunities for the young people involved in the project.

Assistant project manager, Iain Finlayson, says, “Youth unemployment has risen to record highs in our city. Through Everybody Dance Now young people are equipping themselves with skills and work experience to increase their employability in these difficult times. Everybody Dance Now is offering apprentice positions and training in festival and event management, oral history research, choreography, technical theatre and backstage roles, filmmaking and editing, scriptwriting, theatre directing, costume and set design, photography, web development, digital music composition, marketing and publicity and of course acting and performance.”

In the Central England category the group are currently trailing to a community centre in Ipswich, so they are hoping that the people of Wolverhampton will get behind them. To vote for the group all you need to do is register you email address and press vote at before 29th May. To find out more about the group and their Everybody Dance Now project visit
